Chainsaw operations, safety, & maintenance are all covered in this course. Participants will attend a 2.5-day course that includes one day in the classroom, one day in the field, and a half-day for written and practical exams. Chainsaw Operation Certification will be awarded to those who pass both exams. Note: This is not an IPCO course.
Our mentorship program provides hands-on training in forestry, arboriculture, chainsaw safety, sawmilling, and working in both remote bush environments and urban settings like Thunder Bay. We look at the benefits and drawbacks of various harvesting techniques, as well as the costs associated with each project's requirements. Training includes harvesting, hauling, tree felling, notching and problem solving.

Angus McCrady has been working with the Pikangikums and Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Bioenergy projects since 2019. Project consist of the installation of a 300 kW wood chip boiler unit, harvesting methods, tree identification, portable saw-milling training, chainsaw operations and maintenance, and teamwork skill building.
